In November 2018, the Skillsroad Crew, in partnership with Apprenticeship Careers Australia (ACA), travelled all across NSW hosting a series of ‘Meet ‘N’ Eat’ pop-up events that brought jobs directly to local youth in each region.
Over two weeks, the team ventured to Bathurst, Dubbo, Newcastle, Parramatta, Penrith, Campbelltown and Wollongong - where hundreds of young people brought their resumes along for some ‘speed-dating’ style job interviews for a wide array of apprenticeship and traineeship positions in their area.
The ‘Meet ‘N’ Eats’ were designed to engage young jobseekers on the spot, and to directly connect them with real job opportunities in a unique and hassle-free environment.
ACA General Manager, Luke Radford, said that the pop-up events allowed young people to apply for an exciting new role “in a more comfortable and accessible context that takes away the pressure and nerves that can often come with the traditional interview process.”
The Skillsroad Crew were busy conducting interviews, handing out free food and drinks, and putting young people in the draw to win some great prizes at each event.
The NSW ‘Meet ‘N’ Eat’ event series was a huge success, with plenty of enthusiastic new candidates being put forward for employment in their local area after coming along and speaking with the team.
