Balancing study and children

Been out of the workforce shouldering caring responsibilities for a while and want to further your education or gain some new skills? Here are some tips to help you get started:
  • The right form of study could play an important factor in your success. Do you want to study online, on-campus or in combination? Measure your needs against the courses that are available.
  • If you decide you want face-to-face tuition, investigate whether the local campus operates an early childhood education centre. If so, contact the director to find out enrolment requirements as places usually fill fast. If there is no on-site centre you will need to make other arrangements. Make sure you explore the Government assistance available – it could make all the difference.
  • Plan, plan, plan. Get a diary or an app and use them! Once you start balancing parenthood with study you need to be prepared for unexpected hiccups that could thwart your learning goals.
Good luck with your studies!
