If you found your way to this page, you’ve probably got something on your mind. Like, how much it sucks to send out hundreds of resumés and not get a single response. Or how the jargon in job ads makes your head ache. (Or maybe you just want to share a pic of you and your cat hanging out...?) Whatever’s going on in your search for gainful employment, we want to hear about it. Submit your Job Diaries story to Skillsroad and get your voice heard.
What's in it for me?
Fame. Fortune. Street cred. The chance to vent your frustrations and show other job seekers out there: they’re not alone. Your Job Diaries story could be featured on our Skillsroad Facebook or Instagram pages, as well as on the Skillsroad Life Hacks blog. Bonus: submitting to Skillsroad’s Job Diaries gives you new skills and experience to add to your resumé. (Legit: crafting a good content story can be tricky and is an actual employable skill!)
P.S. We'll even give you one of those fancy titles you can add under your work experience section: Skillsroad Content Creator. Cool huh? When you want to reference your article, you will be able to locate it on our Life Hacks Blog.
What do I submit?
What have you got? No, seriously: writing, poetry, gifs, status updates, memes, images, pics, art… Anything that expresses the ups and downs and mehs of your job-seeking journey. (That’s why it’s called Job Diaries!) Simply let us know where you are at in the medium you’re most comfortable with. Think moments such as:
- The feeling of pressing the “send” button on your first application
- Hearing back from HR (or not)
- Being rejected (Again. And again.)
- Not being rejected (Whoop!)
- Crafting a resumé
- Starting your first job
- Quitting a job
- Finding a job
- Complaining about a job
- Freaking out in an interview
- Wearing the wrong outfit to work
- Thinking your boss was the receptionist
- Job Horror stories
Skillsroad’s tone of voice is upbeat, friendly, tongue-in-cheek, funny, authentic and empowering. We know what you’re going through, because we’ve been there (and still carry the scars!). We know how many of you feel alone in trying to navigate this whole “finding a job” thing. The Job Diaries is a space to let it all out. You can choose to remain anonymous, but if you want to gloat to all your friends that you are the GOAT, add your Insta (or other socials) handle and we’ll credit you.
What if I don't have a Job Diaries story?
Well, then we’d like to see that pic of you and your cat. No, seriously. Feel free to submit a pic of whatever is happening in your life, like post-exam bliss, schoolies pre-planning, tackling a summer job, forging a new fashion tribe or killing at creating beats.
- Text (between 350 and 500 words)
- Images (photos, illustrations, screen grabs, memes – whatever sums up your experience)
- Gifs – your #JobDiaries on a loop…
- Short videos – 30 seconds max!

In short, by submitting your work to Skillsroad, you give us permission to share it on our social pages or on our blog, or to use in marketing materials for promotion, content sharing and/or collateral. But don’t worry, you can choose to remain anonymous!
