If you’re looking to make thoughtful handmade Christmas gifts for your friends, family, teachers or co-workers, you’re in luck.
We’ve got heaps of cheap to make, DIY gift ideas ready, so bring out your inner Martha Stewart grab your hot glue gun and get your mason jar - it’s time to get your craft on.
Sugar Scrub with a peppermint twist
The ultimate gender-neutral treat, seasonal pampering at its best.
What you’ll need
- 1 cup granulated sugar, either white or brown, preferably organic.
- ½ cup oil (olive oil and coconut oil work great)
- Essential oils of your preference (if you’d like the peppermint twist, peppermint oil is the way to go.)
- A wide-mouthed upcycled ‘mason’ jar (any jar will do)
Just mix all the ingredients together in your jar, et voila! It’s seriously that easy (but you don’t need to tell anyone that).
A year’s worth of Chill Pills
This is an amusing gift idea for your co-worker or sibling, mainly because you’ll get to enjoy the ‘Chill Pills’ as well, but it will also work for a Secret Santa surprise.
Fill a jar (the bigger, the better) with all the hard-shelled sweets you can find, think M&M’s, Skittles, Jaffas, etc.
Next, create a ‘Chill Pill’ label for your jar.
Pop a lid on your jar, and you have yourself an exceptional looking gift.
Alternatively, if you are not into the idea of a jar filled with chocolate and lollies (what’s wrong with you?) try replacing the sweets with strips of paper, each with a personalised compliment written on it. They will think of you every time they read one.
Forget Lush, here’s how you make a homemade bath bomb!
Ideally, for this one, you’ll have a bath bomb mould, but any shape will do.
What you’ll need:
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup citric acid
- 1/2 cup Epsom salts
- 1 tsp. water
- 2 tsp. essential oil (Whatever you’d like)
- 3 tsp. oil (olive oil)
- Food colouring (any colour you want)
- A whisk and bowl
- A seasonal mould
Slightly more complicated than the other gifts, a homemade Christmas gift is the stuff dreams are made of.
