Looking to flex your culinary skills at this year’s Christmas party? Or maybe you’re looking for a cheap, easy recipe you can make to contribute to a family Christmas dinner?

Cooking may not be your forte, but it’s a significant skill we all need to have a basic understanding of because. Despite what you may believe now, you can’t maintain your optimum levels of well-being while living off packets of Mie Goreng. Sorry, you just can’t.

With that in mind, these Christmas recipes require just four ingredients or less. You can spice them up if you’re looking to strut your stuff, or let people enjoy their delicious simplicity of you’re still learning your way around the kitchen.

Remember if you can’t handle the heat, turn the oven down, put a fan on and keep going. It’s Christmas time in Australia.

The Easiest Christmas Pudding Ever

  • 1 kg dried mixed fruit
  • 2 cups (500ml) pure orange juice
  • 2 cups (250g) self-raising flour
  • 1 heaped teaspoon mixed spice

This combination from Four Ingredients has been dubbed the easiest Christmas pudding ever and we can see why!

First, combine your fruit and orange juice and leave to soak overnight.

Next, add in remaining ingredients and bake for 90 minutes - 180 minutes at 150 degrees C.

Four Ingredient Citrus Glazed Ham

What is Christmas without ham?

This one is another recipe from the Four Ingredients recipe crew, and the directions are slightly more complex than those for the pudding listed above.

Four Ingredient Macaroni Cheese

Real talk: nothing beats a side dish, especially not one that contains cheese!

This moreish dish is up on the Taste website and contains just macaroni pasta, evaporated milk, spreadable cheese and shallots. If you’re feeling fancy, you can add your own special twist on this combo, maybe try some chilli.

Check out the full recipe on the Taste website.

Four Ingredient Side Salad

  • 400g of cherry tomatoes
  • 2 Lebanese cucumbers
  • 200g of pitted kalamata olives
  • 1/2 cup of parsley

This salad combo is a fantastic addition to any Christmas table, plus it’s a step outside the box of your regular garden variety salad, taking your chef skills to the next level.
