So it’s Winter in Australia (fail) but the good news is the USA and Europe is now heating up. It’s the perfect time to book some flights and chase Summer across the globe, because YOLO right.
Some of my most amazing overseas holidays have been ones that I booked last minute, of course the short lead time was a little stressful but it pushed me to save and get my butt into gear to take off and make some memories, my advice is you should do the same!
There are plenty of breaks you can take that don’t include crazy 24 hour flights and stop overs, you could be in Thailand in 7 hours, or even the GC in 1 hour. Whatever your vibe, book a trip, we know you deserve it! Here are my top tips for the next travel destinations you should pop on your to-do list because life is worth living, go on, get on that plane!
Japan
Home of the Harajuku girls, cherry blossoms, edamame and sushi. Did I mention sushi!? Of course there is a lot more to Japan than the above but they would be my go-to straight off the plane because that sounds like a holiday to me! Just 9 hours from Australia, Japan has become the hot spot for those seeking adventure, whisky and of course shopping! Sale fares are constantly popping up in my inbox and I have had a lot of girlfriends travelling there lately to live it up. There are restaurants run by robots, temples, shrines, geishas, and the night life is next level! Use your student discount to fly with

The USA
You have to go! Never a dull moment the US has to be one of my favourite travel destinations. It has attitude and a vibe in the air that is hard to ignore. It’s the perfect place to go celebrity spotting, or ride a roller coaster only theme park all day, it is the perfect place to walk the hall of fame or dream about all the things you could buy if you could afford to shop on Rodeo Drive. All in all if you haven’t travelled a lot the US is a great place to start your first OS trip, it isn’t such a culture shock as some of the other countries I’ve mentioned and Americans love Aussies, so you’ll be in good hands.
Thailand
This was actually my first trip overseas and let me tell you it was eventful!
I did the must see Full moon party, and danced under the full moon with a heap of other travellers from all over the globe. It was a night full of fluro paint, incredible DJs and lot of laughs, I’d recommend you do it at least once in your life. Thailand itself was reasonably priced, friendly but you definitely have to keep your wits about you as there are poorer parts of the country where people are looking for travellers to take advantage of, but what is a holiday without a little adventure right! The islands are stunning with picturesque beaches and warm water, get a massage on the beach or sip cocktails while you feast on the delish food. Whatever type of holiday you like to have Thailand caters to you, if shopping is your thing there are markets galore where you can bargain with the vendors to get your monies worth or you can settle into a spa day with packages that cost as much as an Uber ride to a friends, if adventure s your thing there is surfing and water sports to get the heart racing.
Travelling is one of the best things in life, start when your young and build memories that will last a lifetime. There is no time like the present to travel with friends and make new friends across the globe in the process! Go while you have minimal responsibilities and a carefree persona, these are your best years, GO AND LIVE THEM!
