Stop Cancelling Plans With Your Friends!

Stop Cancelling Plans With Your Friends!

I’ve been really bad at sticking to plans lately, I don’t know if it is the colder weather, the fact I now have a boyfriend or just that I am super busy with work that I’m either cancelling plans or sighing with relief if plans are cancelled on me.
Life gets so crazy busy and when you aren’t snowed under with life admin you are working, seeing family or tying to have some you time. But relationships and time with your friends are also super important so if you are finding you are cancelling more times than not it might be time to make some adjustments to ensure you are getting the quality time that you and your friends need to  keep up  long and lasting friendships.

To my friends reading this, I love you and I will do better I promise!

Here’s my plan to get make more time to hang with you all and maybe you could do the same?

How about a little spontaneity?

Instead of making plans a week in advance try being a little bit more spontaneous with plans, if you have a night off or feel like hanging with your buddies then text them during the day and make plans for that evening. That way you have less chance of cancelling or something going wrong in the next few hours and that means that you will have to cancel (again).

Make a plan when you have met up already

Sometimes the pressure of the nights’ to-do list all gets a little much so why not meet up then make plans, that way you can see what you are both vibing and what you both feel like doing. Dumplings and beer it is then!

Go somewhere different every time

If you always do what you’ve done, you’ll always get what you’ve got. I love that damn saying, and it is soooo true. Break up the monotony and start doing new things! Eat at new restaurants, try new things, get a $10 steak at a different pub. Whatever it is, just do something you haven’t done before. That way you’ll be super excited to hang with your friends and try all the new things together.

Make plans that everyone is looking forward too

Make a group WhatsApp group and lock in plans that everyone is excited for, that way you will stay super motivated to keep the plans because everyone is looking forward to it.

Use an app to help you plan

Sometimes I cancel, not because I want too but sometimes because I just forgot I had plans and I double book myself. Apps are a great way to ensure you are locked and loaded for your catch-up sessions with your friends, Doodle is a scheduling tool you can use to help lock in times and dates that work for everyone without the stress of going backward and forward a million times, you simply suggest a date and time and Doodle will create a polling calendar that can be sent to your friends for feedback. As each of your friends selects a time and date they are free Doodle aggregates the responses and tells you which option works best for everyone. If that all sounds a bit hard then why not just use Outlook calendar invites? That’s the perfect way to tell people where to be and when!
“True friendship multiplies the good in life and divides its evils. Strive to have friends, for life without friends is like life on a desert island... to find one real friend in a lifetime is good fortune; to keep him is a blessing”. Baltasar Gracian
