Feeling unmotivated? Exhausted? Or just downright over it? Don’t sweat it, we all get like that sometimes. If you are creative by nature, then sometimes it’s easy to get into a little creative lull and then be hard on yourself for doing so, but the truth is we have all been there, it’s easy to try and come up with magic but instead hit a speed bump of non-eventful ideas that’s when you are best to stop, take a deep breath and mix it up a little!
Here are 10 sure fire ways to get the creativity back in your life and in turn your motivation to do something special!
1.Take a walk
Sure, you may be on deadline, the work load is piling up and you feel like you need to push through the lull to get sh*t done but it’s time to get away from your desk and take a walk. Walking will increase blood flow, endorphins and give you some thinking time. So put your walking shoes on, pump your favourite tunes on your headphones and take a walk until you feel you have clarity again.
2.Get a change of scenery
Pack your computer charger and get away from your desk, whether that is at home or at work. When you are feeling overwhelmed or overworked and the creative juices have all but dried up take some time away from your normal environment. Go and work in the sun, in a quiet office (that’s not your own) or at a café. It’s amazing what a change of scenery can do for your productivity and creativity.
3. Time for a spring clean
If you are weighed down with papers everywhere, dust on your book shelves and mess everywhere it is no surprise you are feeling less than creative, so give your office a big clean, de-clutter, organise and start the next day with a clean office and a clear head.
4. Download this super dooper app called Unstuck
The biggest enemy of creativity is creative block. But that feeling of being stuck and not knowing how to proceed. Unstuck is a self-paced course that teaches you to overcome 'stuckness' through provocative questions, targeted tips and action-oriented tools. So if you feel you’re lacking creativity not just momentarily, but constantly, this might be worth spending some time on.
5. Binge watch some TED talks
If you haven’t heard of TED talks then where have you been living? TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design and there is bound to be some super motivating talks that will get you thinking outside the box again in no time. Click on the ‘Inspire Me’ function so you can select exactly the inspiration you are looking for.
6. Read some creative quotes
Reading some motivating quotes really helps me when I am having a bad day and creative quotes will help you to get back on track by motivating and reminding you just how amazing you are. Check out some of my favorites here from the team at

7. Take a bath or have a warm shower
I don’t know why but I do some of my best thinking in the shower, it helps to wash away the stress and realign all the negative vibes of the day. Try tying some fresh eucalyptus to your shower head, the steam from the shower will release the invigorating smell and get you back on track for creative greatness!
8. Stop overthinking it
Sometimes (most times) we are own worst enemies, we put too much pressure on ourselves and suffocate a simple problem by overthinking it. Start to lead with your gut instead of your head and see where you end up creatively, the results might surprise you!
9. Take a power nap
All hail the power nap, I mean the Spanish do it every day (Siesta) so why shouldn’t we. Sometimes resting your mind is exactly what you need to re-energise and get the creativity flowing through your veins again.
10. Eat something healthy and make sure you are hydrated
Adopting a healthy, plant and whole food diet is proven to take less of a toll on your digestive system and free up more of your body and mind to get the creative juices flowing once again! Also drinking plenty of water will help to flush out any toxins and keep your mind balanced and alkalized.
