About the role:

Programmed Training Services, in partnership with Freo Cranes are offering the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification as a Mobile Plant Mechanic, which will be delivered over a four year period.


Freo Group is the foremost provider of crane hire services and project material logistics management in Australia. The company provides crane hire, heavy lift, project logistics management, oversize transport, materials handling, warehousing and storage with support bases located across Australia.


The Role

This apprenticeship is designed to provide a comprehensive practical and theoretical base that enables the development of mobile plant mechanic skills to assist in maintaining and enhancing the availability and integrity of heavy mobile equipment and control systems. High priority will also be given to developing safety awareness and safe working practices.


If you have a positive attitude, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, you enjoy hands-on learning and are passionate about making a career within the role, then you are encouraged to apply.


You must also be available to undertake a numeric, literacy, abstract and mechanical reasoning aptitude test and attend a pre-employment medical which includes Drug and Alcohol screening.


Skills and experience


To be successful, you will meet the following criteria:

  • Newman residents only
  • Completion of Secondary Schooling to a Year 12 level
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Mechanical & Technical aptitude
  • A commitment to safety and teamwork
  • Current Driver’s licence
  • Reliable motor vehicle
  • A relevant pre-apprenticeship or industry work experience would be advantageous


On successful completion of the apprenticeship, the candidate will receive a nationally recognised trade qualification.
