Engineering
If you’re interested in the design, manufacture and operation of structures, machines or devices, then the engineering field may suit you.
You could work in aircraft maintenance; boat maintenance, building and repair; electrical/electronics; welding and production systems, for example.
Training & qualifications
While engineers need university degrees, there are many related roles which require Certificate III and IV qualifications. These include:
• Aircraft Mechanical Assistant — Certificate II in Aeroskills • Boilermaker — Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication).
Advanced qualifications include:
• Advanced engineering – Diploma of engineering – advanced trade • Aviation Maintenance Manager (Avionics) — Advanced Diploma of Aviation Maintenance.
Environment
Are you interested in a ‘green career’? There are many opportunities available in the environment, conservation and land care fields.
You could work on erosion or weed control, indigenous land care, natural area restoration or parks & wildlife management.
There are coordination, supervisory and management roles available too, such as community coordinator, field supervisor (lands, parks and wildlife) and natural resource manager.
Training & qualifications
Available qualifications range from Certificate II to Advanced Diploma in Conservation and Land Management.
