Detailed outline to becoming an apprentice or trainee

Signing the training contract
Once you have an apprenticeship or traineeship position, either you or your employer will need to contact ABL Apprenticeships Centre (ABLAC) on 1300 652 236 to organise the signing of your training contract.

How long is probation?
This varies depending on weather you are doing an apprenticeship or traineeship.

Training arrangements
Your registered training organisation will develop a training plan with you and your employer.

What does the training cover?
Under the training contract, your employer must provide the facilities, range of work, supervision, appropriate wages and entitlements, and deliver the training, required as part of your training plan.

I am having problems with my boss
Like any working relationship, you may encounter a few bumps along the way.

What happens if my employer is temporarily unable to provide training?
There are a number of options available if your employer is temporarily unable to train you because business is slow.

What you need to know about working
Keeping your job and advancing your career often requires you to go above and beyond your employer’s expectations.
