Apprenticeships and traineeships are not just for school leavers and other young people. They are practical, hands-on training programs that can create fantastic job opportunities at any point in your career. Many traineeships and apprenticeships are in areas of national skills shortage. This means that once you are qualified, your skills will be in demand and well rewarded.
There are over 500 qualifications available in more than 80% of industries. So no matter what your interest there’s probably an apprenticeship or traineeship available to suit you – either with your current employer or a new one.

- if you are currently employed, approach your manager about signing you up for an apprenticeship or traineeship qualification related to your role
- get out there – visit businesses that you’d like to work for and sell the benefits of having you on board as an apprentice or trainee
- once you have a job - ask your employer to call ABLAC when you start. ABLAC will arrange for a local consultant to help you and your employer get started with your training program. ABLAC will also provide ongoing support and assistance to you and your employer.
